Barb Oliver, Director of Operations, Sound Foundations NW

Barb Oliver has dedicated a life to building Tiny homes to end homelessness in Seattle. Her organization uses a unique system of jigs and templates in an assembly line to build quality homes faster. Not only stopping at Seattle, she is sharing her successful model to cities around the country. Each home houses an average of 3 people per year for about 20 years, with 50% of the temporary home residents moving into permanent housing. Six days a week, Barb hosts volunteers to build, regardless of their carpentry experience. She is committed to developing a community of selfless volunteers and continues her work to end homelessness.

"In the year 2000 I was being evicted from my home. I will never forget how terrifying that was.  Then a friend grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and plopped me down in a spare bedroom of hers.  I never will forget her kindness, and I vowed if I ever had the chance to pay it forward, I would.  So here we are" — Barb Oliver
